Report of new stadium name 'incorrect'

8th March 2019, 16:40 by Simon Barlow

Spurs have denied Richard Keys' claim that their new stadium is to be named 'The Nike Stadium'.

Tottenham are expected to make their long-awaited move to the new ground on April 7 when they take on Brighton in the Premier League.

Former Sky Sports presenter Keys made some controversial claims over his belief that the club will soon announce the naming rights for the 62,000-capacity construction.

Speaking on beIN Sports on Friday, he said: "I believe I am right in saying the first league game will be played April 6th, Brighton the opposition," Keys said.

"And that stadium I can exclusively reveal will be called 'The Nike Stadium'."

But Tottenham have denied the reports, with a source telling the Daily Mail that the reported name is incorrect.

Spurs are now entering the process of holding test events at the ground in order to get safety certificates from Haringey Council.
