Spurs target midfielder deal

12th February 2019, 05:10 by Michael Holland

Tottenham could be ready to launch a £35million bid for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in the summer.

Rice has been a revelation for the Hammers this season and his form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with both Tottenham and Liverpool showing a strong interest.

Spurs are facing up to the prospect of losing key midfielder Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid at the end of the season and are busy keeping an eye out for a replacement.

Rice is said to be on the list of targets but the Hammers will be keen to keep hold and are in a strong position to do so after the player penned a new five-year deal in December.

Even so it has been suggested that Spurs are confident of doing a deal as they feel the player would be interested in potentially playing Champions League football in their new stadium next season and could push for a move.

Liverpool could also enter the running and it looks as though the Hammers face a fight to keep hold in the close season.
