Spurs will look for second-leg win - Rose

11th April 2019, 16:52 by Craig Smithson

Tottenham will go to Manchester City looking to attack and not defend their 1-0 lead in the Champions League, according to Danny Rose.

The 28-year-old England international full-back helped Spurs pick up a slender advantage against their Premier League rivals in the quarter-final first leg at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side will go to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday aiming to progress into the semi-finals and Rose is adamant that they will not be going all defensive, especially as an away goal could prove vital.

"It's not in the manager's DNA to sit back and soak up pressure and hit teams on the counter-attack," Rose said.

"That's not his game. He wants us to show our identity from the first minute, and it'll be the same.

"We'll go there to try and win. That'll be the plan. He wants everybody to show their character, whether we're losing or winning.

"And I can tell everybody now the plan will be not to go there and sit back. Because that's not him.

"That's not us. The tie's not over, and we'll go there next week fully looking to win the game and progress to the semi-finals."
