Star duo to miss Liverpool clash but attacker returns

14th September 2018, 11:48 by Simon Barlow

Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli will miss Spurs' home clash wi Liverpool, but Heung-min Son is back after a month of international duty.

Tottenham skipper Lloris, who was sentenced this week for drink-driving, has been ruled out for several weeks with a thigh injury so Michel Vorm will step into his place in goal.

England midfielder Alli is out because of a hamstring problem he sustained during the international break.

Son is available to play his first competitive Spurs match of the season after helping South Korea win gold medal for football at the Asian Games - making him exempt from military service.

But, having played eight matches in 26 days, it remains unclear whether Mauricio Pochettino boss will put him straight back into league action with the Carabao Cup and Champions League also returning in the coming weeks.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko is still missing because of hamstring trouble.

Provisional squad: Vorm, Gazzaniga, Trippier, Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Sanchez, Davies, Dier, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Winks, Moura, Son, Llorente, Kane.
