Cottagers plotting Okaka swoop

19th November 2018, 11:44 by Craig Smithson

Fulham are set to try and reunite Watford forward Stefano Okaka with their new boss Claudio Ranieri, according to reports.

The 29-year-old Italian forward, who worked with Ranieri earlier in his career at Roma, is believed to be looking for a move in January as he continues to struggle for first-team football at Vicarage Road.

Okaka has made just two appearances this season, including a late substitute appearance in the Premier League defeat at Newcastle, as he is behind the likes of Troy Deeney, Isaac Success and Andre Gray in boss Javi Gracia's pecking order.

Injury issues have not helped Okaka's bid to fight for a place in the side and he could now be rescued by Ranieri in the upcoming new year transfer window.

The veteran Italian tactician returned to the Premier League last week to replace the sacked Slavisa Jokanovic at Craven Cottage and reports claim he will attempt to take Okaka to west London on loan to help bolster the bottom club's attacking options for the second half of the season.
