Femenia - Deeney deserves special praise

10th April 2019, 13:36 by Tom Hill

Watford defender Kiko Femenia has heaped praise on forward Troy Deeney and says he deserves to play in the FA Cup final.

Deeney scored from the spot on Sunday as Watford came from two goals down against Wolves to force the semi-final into extra-time before beating them 3-2 at Wembley.

Last weekend's success ensured the Hornets will now take on Manchester City in the final in May as the Hertfordshire outfit look to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

Deeney has now scored 10 goals in his last 14 FA Cup games and Femenia admits he is honoured to play in the same team as the Birmingham-born striker.

He told the club's official website: "He's someone that we need. For all of us he is a legend here [at Watford].

"He has done a lot for the club so he deserves it for how the fans treat him. He is a leader. He keeps the ball at the front, he fights a lot, and you can tell he gives everything to and for the club. We notice when he's not there!

"He always has the goal in his mind. He works a lot, and he never gives up. The good season [he is having] is a result of all that hard work."
