Gracia frustrated after Hornets defeat

31st January 2019, 03:28 by Michael Holland

Javi Gracia admits his Watford side wasted a great opportunity to pick up three points as Tottenham fought back to win 2-1.

Craig Cathcart's first-half header put the Hornets in front at Wembley, but they were unable to hold on as Son Heung-min equalised 10 minutes from time before Fernando Llorente struck the winner in the 87th minute.

Watford were 10 minutes away from posting a league double over Spurs, having beaten them in September, and Gracia accepts it was tough to take.

"Today we have missed a very good chance to get points against a very good team like Tottenham is," he said. "They dominated the game with more possession and some chances but after scoring first win the first half, we worked a lot, defended well and in the last 10 minutes we have conceded two goals.

"It is tough, it is difficult to accept, it is a good sign that the team is very disappointed because the team is very ambitious and demanding of themselves and all of them are disappointed."
