Holebas sets sights on Europe

12th April 2019, 14:12 by Gareth Freeman

Watford star Jose Holebas says his side can win the FA Cup this season and secure a place in next season's Europa League.

The Hornets will face Manchester City in the FA Cup final next month and if they manage to land the trophy they will book a place in the Europa League group stages.

Watford could also qualify for the European competition by finishing seventh in the Premier League, which would see them having to play qualifiers over the summer to reach the group stage.

Watford sit 10th in the Premier League but are just one point off seventh-placed Leicester, who have played a game more.

"We know what we want and we know what we have to do for it," he told the club website.

"If you win the cup you can achieve something in your career, and we can go to Europe, so it means a lot."

He added: "[At the start of the season] we didn't say we wanted to target the Europa League.

"Now we are sitting up in the table but that's only because we worked hard, we took our points where we had to take them.

"We had so many games where we worked so hard and we lost. If I count those points as well I don't know where we would stand in the table.

"It is not a one-man show here, we are 11 players on the pitch and we show that."
