Kabasele keen to keep Hornets' jersey
Christian Kabasele aims to remain in the Watford side after making a long-awaited start in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City.
The 27-year-old central defender had not featured from the start for the Hornets since he conceded a penalty and was red-carded in the 4-0 defeat against Bournemouth at Vicarage Road in early October.
Kabasele had been forced to play a waiting game to get back into boss Javi Gracia's starting XI after his suspension, but he hopes his performance against the Citizens this week will see him keep his place.
He told the Observer: "Everybody wants to play in these type of games and I tried to do my best to help the team. We are lucky that we have so many good players who can start every game.
"It is good to have that in a tough period of games and it is good to be back on the pitch but at the end of the day it is a defeat."
Kabasele felt Watford were unfortunate to lose against a City side, which is unbeaten and sitting at the top of the table, while he hopes they can take that performance into the Monday night clash against Everton at Goodison Park.
He added: "We played against the best team, not only in England but in Europe in my opinion. We showed character and need to build on that.
"We know the Everton game is a special one since last season and want to make a good result for the fans on Monday.
"When you compete against Man City, you can't go to Everton and be dominated and we will be confident."
