Watford aces on Tottenham radar
Tottenham scout David Pleat was spotted at Vicarage Road again on Monday when Watford's Under-23s lost to Leeds United.
The former White Hart Lane boss, who scouts mainly Football League targets for Spurs, was also at the ground for Watford's FA Youth Cup win over Ipswich in February.
That match saw Dublin teenager Ryan Cassidy steal the show with two goals and two assists in a 4-1 victory, but the 17-year-old was only named on the bench by Watford Under-23 coach Hayden Mullins on Monday.
He eventually came on late in the game but, in a match where not many of his side shone, Mullins picked out another 17-year-old for praise after the match.
He saw Jayden Bennetts to be a real shining light as he operated as a false No. 9 in what was his third game in five days.
"Jayden has done really well again," said Mullins after the 3-0 defeat. "I see him in training every day but you only really learn about them in games, and I think he’s one who has handled it well and come to the fore.
"Jayden is good when he gets the ball at his feet in good areas, as he can play some lovely passes. He can also link the play well. We played him higher today and he looked after the ball well. He’s doing really well."
