Watford pursuing Brazilian starlet
Watford are willing to scrap it out with Arsenal and Liverpool for the services of Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson.
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Europe after catching the eye in his homeland Brazil.
After making his senior debut as an 18-year-old with Ponte Preta, Emerson was snapped up by Atletico Mineiro in April 2018.
Emerson turned out 23 times for Alvinegro in the second half of the season as they went on to qualify for the Copa Libertadores courtesy of a sixth-place finish.
The right-back’s exploits have led to interest from the Premier League and a move could be in the offing before the end of the month.
Watford are understood to be the latest club to enter the race for the Brazil under-20 international but they are yet to make an official approach.
Javi Gracia currently has Kiko Femenia and Daryl Janmaat to call on at right-back, however, injuries to the latter appear to have convinced him to assess other options.
