Dzeko fee difference could scupper Roma swoop

1st April 2019, 19:25 by Simon Barlow

West Ham face a battle with Newcastle for the capture of Edin Dzeko as reports claim they aren't close enough to Roma's asking price.

Tuttomercatoweb claim there are two English clubs interested in the Bosnian, who scored 16 Premier League goals under current Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City in 2013-14.

Sources in Italy indicate the 33-year-old's time in Rome is drawing to a close despite some prolific seasons in Serie A recently.

Dzeko scored 29 league goals in his second season in Italy and helped Roma reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last term.

He will have one year left on his contract at the end of the season and Roma are understood to want 25m euros for his services although the report claims the two Premier League clubs are proposing no more than 10m euros.

Inter Milan are also being credited with an interest but his wages are rumoured to be 4.5m euros per season and that is putting them off.
