Wanted star happy at Hammers

2nd April 2019, 10:25 by Nick Harris

Midfielder Declan Rice has reiterated that he is happy at West Ham despite being linked with a move elsewhere.

Rice made a decision to play international football for England after the turn of the year and has now made his debut for Gareth Southgate's men.

A succession of assured performances in an average West Ham side have seen him catch the eye of rival clubs, with Manchester City strongly linked.

But Rice told BT Sport: "I'm happy. I'm playing week in, week out. I have a special connection with the fans. It's unbelievable. I love every minute of being at West Ham.

"Being compared to players, being linked to other teams, I don't really take any of it in to be honest. If you think about it too much you get caught up in it. I'm only 20, you've got your whole career ahead of you.

"I'm just focused on playing for West Ham, and playing with a smile on my face and enjoying it."
