Bonatini could be bound for Greece

10th January 2019, 15:22 by Simon Barlow

Leo Bonatini is a January transfer window target for Greek club PAOK, who are in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a deal.

PAOK's technical manager Mario Branco is understood to be on his way to Molineux to close out the transfer of 24-year-old forward.

Wolves only signed Bonatini permanently in the summer transfer window, but the £5million capture from Al-Hilal has had little impact in the Premier League.

He scored 12 goals in 29 Championship starts as Wolves stormed to the title last season, but is yet to register a goal in 12 top-flight run-outs.

Although born in Brazil, Bonatini holds an Italian passport so PAOK will not have to use up one of their squad places for a 'foreigner'.

The Greek club recently sold their leading striker Aleksandar Prijovic to Al Ittihad so need a replacement and reportedly have Markus Berg lined up as a second-choice option.
