Jonny not planning permanent Wolves switch

31st December 2018, 18:04 by Tom McGarry

Jonny Castro Otto is not planning to join Wolves on a permanent basis and instead intends to return to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The Spain international only joined Atleti from Celta Vigo in July, but he was immediately sent out on a season-long loan to Wolves.

The 24-year-old has impressed during his time at Molineux, featuring 17 times across all competitions and scored his only goal for the club to date during the 2-0 victory over Southampton in September.

Reports have suggested that Atleti could look to recall Jonny during the January transfer window, particularly as the club's current first-choice left-back, Lucas Hernandez, is being heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.

Jonny has moved to dismiss that speculation, however, although he has confirmed that he does plan to return to Atleti at the end of the season.

"No one from Atletico has told me anything about returning yet. I've seen the news from Lucas, but he's still an Atleti player and he contributes a lot there," Jonny was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"I have my head here and I am working hard to arrive in the summer and try to stay."
