Wolves cool on striker rumours

3rd January 2019, 03:37 by Michael Holland

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo refused to confirm whether Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham was about to sign for the club.

Abraham is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but reports are rife suggesting that Wolves are keen to snap him up on a permanent basis now the transfer window is open.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has ruled out the player returning to Stamford Bridge despite the fact they are struggling for bodies in attack, and that could open the door for Wolves to swoop.

However after watching Wolves lose 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace last night, Nuno refused to confirm whether a deal for the striker would happen.

"I cannot comment on that. I can comment on how we work and the transfer window is now. We anticipated it before." he said. "We have to look at it and analyse what we have in front of us and who can deliver. Anything can happen.

"This squad will stay with us, the core is there, we have to know if we need something."
