Wolves handed boost in Pepe hunt

17th April 2019, 19:48 by Gareth Freeman

Wolves target Nicolas Pepe will leave Lille this summer although the Molineux club will still face a fight to sign the forward.

Pepe has starred for Lille, who sit second in Ligue 1, this season with 20 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The Ivory Coast international is under contract until 2022 but is believed to have made it clear he wants a new challenge, with Lille resigned to losing the 23-year-old.

Wolves have been credited with an interest but if they are to land Pepe they will have to see off competition from some big guns both at home and abroad.

Premier League pair Manchester United and Arsenal are also thought to be keen, while Bayern Munich have also been mooted as possible suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.
