Wolves planning Abraham bid

2nd January 2019, 19:30 by Tom Hill

According to reports in England, Wolves are in talks to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this month.

The England international is on loan at Aston Villa at present but Wolves are hoping to complete a permanent switch before the end of the month.

After a slow start to the season, the 21-year-old has since found his feet and has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship appearances.

Reports claim a bid of £18million may be needed and the news will come as a huge blow to Villa fans.

Villa boss Dean Smith said on New Year's Day he was expecting him to stay put, despite reports claiming Wolves have made progress in their recent talks.

"Tammy has shown no inclination to go back to Chelsea," Smith told reporters.

"In the conversations I've had with him he is enjoying himself at Villa and is developing as a player."
