Ashurst injury boost for Trinity
Wakefield have revealed Matty Ashurst's foot injury is not as serious as first feared and he should be back in action soon.
The 29-year-old picked up the injury as Trinity defeated Leeds Rhinos 35-18 last Friday night and it was feared he could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
However that is not the case after club physio Ryan Carmody confirmed the injury is not serious and he will just be missing for a couple of weeks.
“It looked a nasty injury and he was in a lot of pain when it happened,” said Carmody. “He was forced off the field [at Leeds], we scanned him the other day and it is pretty positive news. Initially, he was complaining of pain around the knee and the ankle and on the foot. But when it settled down it was more his foot.
"He has disrupted a couple of ligaments in his foot, so he is potentially going to be missing a couple of weeks. But that’s a lot less than first feared so we are pleased.”
