Austin loses fitness race for Challenge Cup final
Warrington Wolves half-back Blake Austin will not play in the Challenge Cup final after he was left out of their 19-man squad.
Austin, who has been one of the stars of the Super League season, has been out injured since the start of the month after injuring his ankle against Catalans.
He had been given every possible chance to try and make it back fit for the final, which takes place against league leaders St Helens at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
However, it appears he has lost that battle after Steve Price named his 19-man squad, with the former Canberra man not included.
Matty Smith had been drafted in from Catalans Dragons as loan cover but he will also not be able to play in the final after missing the registration deadline to play at Wembley.
There is better news however for Steve Price as Jack Hughes and Josh Charnley are back after overcoming injuries.
Hughes ruptured a testicle in their recent game against Catalans in what he described as the "worst pain" ever.
