Catalans announce four departures
Catalans Dragons have announced four players - Tony Gigot, Greg Bird, Jodie Broughton and Kenny Edwards - are all leaving the club.
French star Gigot, who won the Lance Todd Trophy when named man of the match in Catalans' Challenge Cup win over Warrington at Wembley in 2018, is out of contract and expected to make the move to the NRL.
Former Australia international Bird is retiring, while winger Jodie Broughton has agreed a move to Halifax and back-row forward Kenny Edwards is off to Huddersfield.
Catalans coach Steve McNamara paid tribute to Gigot, who he believes has inspired young players from his country to aspire to be rugby league stars of the future.
He said: "Tony will go down in history as the first ever French player to win the Lance Todd Trophy for his performance in the Challenge Cup final.
"His performance in that game has inspired many young French players to chase their dream and follow in his footsteps."
