Catalans confirm O'Carroll appointment
Former Widnes coach Eamon O'Carroll, who also played for Wigan, Hull and Widnes, has been named new Catalans Dragons assistant coach.
O'Carroll has been brought in by the ambitious French outfit, and he will work closely with boss Steve McNamara in the new Betfred Super League season.
The Challenge Cup holders had been looking for someone to work with McNamara, and they believe O'Carroll, 31, fits the bill as he adds to the coaching staff at the club alongside former France half-back Thomas Bosc.
The former prop was forced to retire because of a neck injury in 2017 and has impressed in recent years as a coach at Widnes, with McNamara well aware of his talents.
"Eamon is an extremely gifted young coach who's enthusiasm and energy will be a great asset," McNamara said.
Catalans finished eighth in the 2018 campaign at the end of the regular season but then struggled in the Super 8s, winning just two of their games.
