Escare to stay and fight for Wigan place
Morgan Escare has vowed to fight for his place in the Wigan team after ruling out an exit before the final year of his contract.
The 27-year-old France international joined the then Super League champions from Catalans Dragons in 2017 as cover for Sam Tomkins. He enjoyed a strong first year at the DW Stadium before a knee injury ruled him out from the middle of April.
Escare has since slipped down the pecking order, having played just twice in his regular full-back role under Adrian Lam in the 2019 campaign.
And, with the arrival of Australian utility back Bevan French earlier this week, Escare was being linked with a return to Perpignan to rejoin Catalans ahead of the August 9 transfer deadline.
However, Escare has taken to social media to insist he has no plans to depart the Warriors until at least the end of his current deal in 2020.
He wrote on Twitter: "I have seen the reports saying I am going home next year. This is not true as I have one more year of my contract at Wigan and will be fighting for my place."
