Hamstring issue sidelines Golding
Huddersfield Giants are set to be without full-back Ashton Golding for "some time" due to a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old recently joined from Leeds Rhinos after finding regular game-time at Headingley tough to come by since losing his place to Jack Walker in 2017, spending time on loan at Featherstone in 2019.
After a bright start to life at the John Smith's Stadium, Golding was eyeing a place in Huddersfield's opening round trip to Catalans Dragons on February 1.
However, he picked up a hamstring injury in last Sunday's 16-4 pre-season friendly win over Wakefield and while the full extent of the issue is still to be determined, coach Simon Woolford admits it does not look good.
"We won't know exactly until today but he's not looking great," Woolford said. "It's just an innocuous hammy. He's going to be missing for some time. For now, it's just a case of getting the scans and going through the process.
"He ran the ball back and felt it in contact more than stretching it.
"It was one to get through last night injury free last night and we were just about to swap him out too and put Darnell there for the last 15 minutes. It's a pain."
