Holbrook confirms exit
Justin Holbrook has confirmed he will leave the Super League leaders St Helens at the end of the season and join Gold Coast Titans.
St Helens have done all they can to keep their head coach but the lure of a return to Australia and the NRL has proven too much and Holbrook has decided to leave at the end of the current campaign.
Saints will take on Warrington in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley at the end of August and they will then go into the Grand Final semi-finals with the hope of making the final in October but they have said they will not be making any announcement on who is to take over the coaching role until after their Wembley showdown.
In the meantime, Holbrook explained the offer was too hard to turn down, he said:"(Chairman) Eamonn McManus, (chief executive) Mike Rush and the board wanted me to stay and did everything they could, which I greatly appreciated, but an opportunity to return home to the NRL is what I feel I need to do.
"It is very difficult as the only time I would get an opportunity like that is when we are winning and doing well as a club, which makes the decision even harder for me."
