Holbrook expects more from halfbacks

23rd March 2019, 19:05 by Tom Hill

St Helens coach Justin Holbrook believes that both Theo Fages and Jonny Lomax will improve following the victory over Castleford.

The Merseyside outfit recorded a sensational 42-12 win on their trip to the Mend-A-Hose-Jungle on Friday night.

Castleford had not tasted defeat on home soil in 2019 but they were humbled after a lacklustre display.

Lomax, Fages and new full-back Lachlan Coote have already got 21 assists between them this season and Holbrook believes they will only get better.

He told Love Rugby League: "I think that was a complete performance. Every one of the boys played well and that was a really pleasing thing.

"It’s getting better every week and the key playmakers are improving collectively. Obviously, the other guys are doing the hard work, but they’re really working well.

"As better conditions come, everyone will start to attack better. We’ve played in some tough conditions and still looked good with the ball. I wasn’t expecting that scoreline, but given the effort the players put in, they fully deserved it."
