Injuries piling up for Wigan Warriors

15th July 2019, 11:16 by Bobbie Jackson

Adrian Lam says Wigan Warriors are struggling for options in the middle after Joe Burgess sustained an injury on Friday.

The Warriors became St Helens' latest victims on Friday as they fell to a 32-10 defeat at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Wigan travelled to Saints without several first-team regulars due to injury and Burgess has now been added to that list.

The 24-year-old looks set to miss Thursday's trip to Wakefield and Lam admits he will need to rely on academy players.

"I think Joe's done his AC in his shoulder," Lam said. "It's a bit of a worry.

"There's also a worry over [Joe] Bullock and [Romain] Navarrete, who has a bit of a wrist issue.

"We're out of middles at the moment...we're relying on the academy.

"I don't think anyone will be back for Wakefield.

"I think everyone should be okay for the Hull game [a fortnight later]."
