Injuries starting to mount for Wildcats
Chris Chester has bemoaned Wakefield's growing list of injuries with Chris Green and Yusuf Aydin likely to miss the start of 2020.
The Wildcats finished in a disappointing ninth position in the Super League last season and Chester has made moves to improve his squad during the off-season.
Prop Green and promising young forward Aydin are two of the new faces to link up with Wakefield over the past couple of months but they look unlikely to be available for the start of the 2020 campaign.
Green sustained an ankle injury during Trinity's warm weather training camp in Alicante last week, while Aydin and full-back Alex Walker limped out of the friendly meeting with Huddersfield Giants with a similar issue.
Chester said: "They've (Walker and Aydin) both done ankles. I can't tell you a great deal else apart from they're both really swollen.
"It's just part and parcel of the game I suppose, we just need a little bit of luck. It seems to be every single week there's a guy going down.
"We lost Chris Green while we over in Alicante, on the first day he rolled an ankle and is probably looking at about six weeks out."
Wakefield have been handed a favourable start to the new Super League term and will kick off with a trip to Hull KR, who finished two places below them in 2019, on January 31.
