KR ace hopeful of better defence
Hull KR half-back Danny McGuire says his side need to improve their defensive record ahead of their game against Wakefield.
McGuire’s team are seventh in the Super League table having made a reasonable start to the campaign.
The Robins have, however, lost their last two games - a narrow 24-22 defeat at home to Salford before a 32-16 defeat to Castleford.
And McGuire says they must pick themselves up in order to compete with the top sides in the division.
“We’re letting ourselves down defensively, we’re becoming too easy to score against and that’s reflecting on when we have the ball, when we’re not executing as we’d like,” McGuire told the Hull Daily Mail.
“We have lots of areas to fix up on and we have to ensure we defend better to then improve our attack.
“Last week’s loss to Castleford was frustrating. It was tight in that first 30 minutes, a bit scrappy, but then we lost a few players. I don’t want to make any excuses, we have had some really good patches but more poor ones over the last few weeks and only we can fix that up.”
