KR confirm trio's impending departure
Hull KR have confirmed that Chris Atkin, Josh Drinkwater and James Greenwood are set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Half-back Atkin has already agreed a move to KR's Super League rivals Salford Red Devils, while former Catalans Dragons star Drinkwater, who has been an ever-present throughout 2019, will also leave when the one-year contract he signed at the start of the campaign expires.
Forward Greenwood is the longest-serving of the departing trio, as he originally moved to KCOM Craven Park in 2015, but a knee injury has limited his involvement this season and he will now also be seeking a new challenge elsewhere.
KR coach Tony Smith admits he has enjoyed working with the trio and has wished them well as they take the next steps in their careers.
"I've enjoyed my time with all three of those young men in terms of working and alongside them," Smith told the club website.
"Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to coach James but he's been a pleasure around the place and a professional in terms of how he's been rehabbing. Chris and Josh have been tremendous and I wish them well in their future careers."
Rovers still haven't guaranteed their Super League status heading into the final two fixtures of the season, but they can secure survival if they see off bottom club London Broncos on Friday.
