Merrin pleased with Rhinos experience so far

6th December 2018, 14:02 by Aidan Perkins

Leeds Rhinos signing Trent Merrin says pre-season training has gone well so far and he cannot wait to get the new campaign started.

The Rhinos made the eye-catching signing over the off-season as they managed to secure a deal to bring in the Australia international from Penrith Panthers.

Merrin is likely to emerge as a key man for Leeds and he says he's already been impressed with what he's seen from his new colleagues so far as they continue to build-up for the 2019 campaign.

He told the Rhinos website: "Everything's the way we expected and I'm really looking forward to the season.

"There's already an exceptional bunch of men here and the quality of training in the past few weeks sets the standard."

Merrin has tasted success before when helping St George Illawarra Dragons to NRL 2010 Grand Final glory and he's determined to win things with Leeds, where he hopes his experience will help.

He added: "I just want to win, there's already some great players here, I'll be putting 100 per cent into it and using all of my experience.

"It's been great, a breath of fresh air coming over here, me and my partner are enjoying it."
