Poching added to Giants coaching team
Huddersfield Giants have added Willie Poching to their coaching team ahead of the 2019 Super League season.
The former second-row will bring with him a wealth of Super League experience, as he has spent the last 12 years coaching in the division at the likes of Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR and Salford Red Devils.
Indeed, the 45-year-old only left Salford at the end of last season, but he has not been out of the game for long and he will now become part of Simon Woolford's coaching team at the John Smith's Stadium.
Woolford is certainly pleased to welcome Poching into the Huddersfield fold and he believes the New Zealander's experience will prove invaluable to his team.
"We have been looking around for some help for a few weeks now and Willie was keen to get back into the game after a short break and I think we’ll both be a good fit for each other," Woolford was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Post.
"He brings a lot of UK Super League experience to the table which will be valuable for us all here and is keen to get the boots back on and get onto the paddock which I always like to see."
Former Wakefield full-back Scott Grix and Giants legend Luke Robinson are also part of the Huddersfield coaching set-up, with Woolford confirming he wants to add one more person to his backroom team before the new Super League season gets underway.
He added: "We’ve probably still got one more support staff member to tie up ahead of the season’s start which we’re close to finalising and then the team will be complete."
