Rovers boss says places up for grabs
Tony Smith has told his Hull KR players to ignore the squad numbers as all places are up for grabs during pre-season.
Rovers released their squad numbers on Monday and they would suggest that Smith already has a very good idea of what team will start the 2020 Super League season.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kane Linnett have taken centre numbers, while Ben Crooks and Greg Minikin were given the wing shirts.
In the back row, Weller Hauraki, Harvey Livett and Dean Hadley have got the coveted jerseys, with George Lawler and Matty Gee among those with larger numbers.
Even so, Smith says nothing has been decided yet and places in his starting 13 are still very much up for grabs.
"We've got to allocate squad numbers so we do but where they end up will be determined by their pre-season and friendly performances," Smith said.
"We've got plenty of number and competition for places. They can read into it as much as they wants but they can affect it by what they do on the park and the training park.
"I've got two boys who can play centre who are wearing wingers' numbers and if they want to play centre they can play centre. That'll be down to how they play."
