Saints wait on star injury
Luke Thompson is facing a spell on the sidelines after he suffered an ankle injury in St Helens' victory over Hull FC.
Saints romped to an impressive 62-16 victory on Easter Monday, but the win came at a cost as Thompson was forced to leave the field just 15 minutes into the game.
Speaking after the victory, coach Justin Holbrook confirmed the injury is connected to ligament damage on the high ankle, and further examinations will be needed.
It is thought the injury will keep him on the sidelines for weeks rather than months, but Saints still need to discover the full extent of the damage.
"I don't think it will be good. A syndesmosis on his ankle - we are not too sure on the timeframe yet," Holbrook said.
Meanwhile, Saints remain clear at the top of Super League and Holbrook is content with the way his side are performing.
"We are different to this time last year and are controlling the games really well, and that is probably the difference," he added. "This year I said we would start a bit slower and get better as the season wore on, mainly due to new players."
