Salford confirm Greenwood capture
Salford Red Devils have confirmed that forward James Greenwood will join the club for the 2020 Super League season from Hull KR.
The 28-year-old was one of three players that KR announced would be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign and he has joined fellow departee Chris Atkin in heading to the Red Devils.
Greenwood, who is currently working his way back to full fitness following a knee injury, has been allowed to begin training with Salford immediately and is looking forward to joining a team that could still finish in the top three of Super League this season.
"Salford are doing really well at the moment. This is a new step for me and I'm really looking forward to it," Greenwood told the Salford website.
"Being around the boys, the conditioners and the coaches now means I'll be able to make that transition straight away.
"I'm just concentrating on getting myself back on that field, then everything else I'll take care of once I get to that point."
Greenwood originally joined Hull KR on loan in 2015 before making the move permanent the following season. He went on to make nearly 100 appearances for the club in a variety of positions.
That versatility is something that caught the eye of Salford head coach Ian Watson, who believes they are also signing a player whose best years are ahead of him.
"He's coming into his best years and I believe we'll see them at Salford," Watson added. ""Greeny's a great bloke and a big, no-nonsense, mobile forward, who's is equally effective in the middle or second-row."
