Toulouse complete Vaivai deal

7th December 2018, 00:43 by Michael Holland

Toulouse have completed the signing of front rower Paterika Vaivai on a one-year deal following his release from Leigh Centurions.

The Samoan star began his career in the NRL with Newcastle Knights in 2014, before joining Gold Coast Titans, where he made 16 appearances for the club.

The 26-year-old spent last season with Leigh, making nine appearances, before being released early from his two-year deal.

Vaivai has been quickly snapped up by Toulouse, and the player is looking forward to helping the club push for promotion from the Championship.

“I can’t wait to meet everyone at the club and hopefully help the team reach their goals by gaining promotion to Super League," Vaivai said.

“I know that Toulouse is a club based on a rich history, which I look forward to being part of.”

Olympique chairman Bernard Sarrazain added: “The experience at the high level, despite his young age demonstrates the talent of Patty. He is a rookie who can only do good to our group.”
