Wigan chief excited by Barca trip

30th November 2018, 17:53 by Alex Jack

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan is looking forward to the Warriors' "landmark" clash against Catalans at the Camp Nou.

The venue has been confirmed for the encounter between the reigning Super League champions, Wigan, and the Challenge Cup holders, the Dragons, on May 18.

Lenagan feels the match represents an exciting time for the sport, with a big crowed expected for the match next summer.

"This is landmark moment in Super League's history and we are extremely proud to play our part in making history," he said in a statement.

"Having European rugby league's two current title holders face each other in the iconic surroundings of the Camp Nou is a mouth-watering prospect and is one that I truly believe will be an historic occasion for the sport.

"I applaud [Dragons chairman] Bernard Guasch and the Catalans Dragons for their ambition and innovative approach to growing the game and the profile of the Super League.”
