Wigan star charged with Anti-Doping violation
Wigan Warriors star Gabe Hamlin has been charged with a UK Anti-Doping violation and provisionally suspended by the RFL.
The exact details of the violation are not yet known, but Wigan have confirmed that the 22-year-old is now on his way back to his native Australia to spend some time with his family.
A statement on the club's website said: "Wigan Warriors can confirm that they have been informed by the Rugby Football League (RFL) that Gabriel Hamlin has been charged with a UK anti-doping violation and has been provisionally suspended by the RFL pending the conclusion of the case."
Chairman Ian Lenagan added: "Wigan will look to support Gabriel throughout this process," said Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan.
"Gabriel has requested to be closer to his family during this difficult time and we fully support this request."
The former South Sydney Rabbitohs ace, played in all but one of Wigan's opening eight matches of the Super League season and is currently in the second year of a two-year deal.
