Wire coach heaps praise on Akauola

25th April 2019, 12:31 by Gareth Freeman

Warrington coach Steve Price praised prop Sitaleki Akauola's display in the 54-6 win at Hull KR.

Akauola managed 24 appearances for the Wire last season but the game against Hull KR was his first of the 2019 campaign as he spent time on loan at Rochdale.

Price revealed the Tongan has been absent with an injury, and indicated the 27-year-old will see more action in the weeks ahead after grabbing a try at Craven Park on Easter Monday.

"He had to get some game time back at Rochdale but he was unfortunate to cop a bit of an MCL knee injury, which knocked him around for a few weeks," Price told the Warrington Guardian.

"He's back healthy again and I was really pleased with his display at the weekend.

"He carried the ball strong and did everything we asked of him to the level and above.

"We know when Sita's at his best, he's off the back fence and scattering bodies. That's what we need more of."
