Wolves could have Widdop available
Steve Price says there is still a chance Gareth Widdop could start the season for Warrington against Wigan on Thursday.
The half-back joined the Wire from St. George Illawarra Dragons but has had his pre-season hampered by an ankle injury suffered in training.
It was initially thought he would miss three weeks of action, but, speaking at Mike Cooper's Testimonial on Thursday, Price said that the 30-year-old's progress has been good and that he could be ready to play at the DW Stadium.
"We'll know more about Jack Hughes and Gareth Widdop next week," he is quoted as saying by Warrington Guardian. "Gareth's out of the boot and walking freely. He's a quick healer – you just never know in this game, do you?"
Prop Leilani Latu could also be in contention, with the former Penrith and Gold Coast man set to land in the UK over the weekend.
"Leilani will arrive on Sunday lunchtime, which is great. He gives us another big body in that forward pack," Price added.
"It's too early to tell with him for next week. We'll have to see where his head's at."
