Baxter calls for Exeter focus
Rob Baxter has urged his Exeter Chiefs side to retain their focus when they visit Northampton Saints in the Premiership on Friday.
The Chiefs have only lost one of their opening 10 league matches this season and they opened up a three-point gap at the top of the standings courtesy of last weekend's 31-13 victory over nearest rivals Saracens.
The victory over Sarries came off the back of a 29-17 triumph over Gloucester in the Champions Cup and Baxter has urged his side to maintain their recent standards during Friday's trip to Franklin's Gardens.
"What we need to do is go to Northampton with the right mindset, because people soon forget about good performances if you don't back them up," Baxter was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"That's the message we've been driving home this week and hopefully the guys will follow that through."
With fixtures coming thick and fast over the festive period, Baxter knows Friday's result could depend on which team is mentally and emotionally the freshest.
He added: "Now it's a case of who can mentally and emotionally refresh first and who can take that emotion and passion into the game on Friday, because that is going to be the most important factor."
