Clark in new deal boost for Bath

28th March 2019, 17:25 by Craig Smithson

Premiership outfit Bath have been boosted by the news centre Max Clark has signed a new contract.

The 23-year-old, who made his debut for the club back in 2014 having worked his way through the academy at The Rec, has found it difficult for regular first-team action so far this term with just 12 appearances to date, with only four of those coming in the Premiership.

However, director of rugby Todd Blackadder is adamant that Clark is very much a part of Bath's plans going forward and he is delighted to get him tied down to a new deal.

"Max has been unfortunate with injuries over the last 18 months but he's got a really bright future in front of him," he said on the club's website.

"The recruitment of Jackson (Willison) and Jamie (Roberts) at the start of the season has really made him grow as a player. He's not only developed his skill-set from working with those around him, but he's shown that real fight and determination to get back into the squad."

Clark added: "Bath is where I've spent all my professional career and I just want to keep progressing as a player. With the players around me I've been able to do just that, so it's now about taking my chances when I get the opportunity to pull on the shirt.

"There's a great deal of depth in the midfield at the Club, but my focus is making that position my own and helping Bath to achieve. We're going in the right direction and I'm really excited about the potential of this squad."
