Cullen praises O'Brien qualities

22nd April 2019, 11:45 by Jack Ogalbe

Leo Cullen has hailed the leadership qualities shown by Sean O'Brien in Sunday's 30-12 Champions Cup win over Toulouse.

In front of an expectant Dublin crowd, Leinster rose to the occasion as tries from James Lowe, Jack McGrath and Scott Fardy saw them edge out the resurgent French club and they will now meet Saracens in next month's final on May 11 at Newcastle's St James' Park.

The province have won the competition four times, including last year when they fought off Racing 92 in Bilbao.

O'Brien was excellent on Sunday, and, with his injury woes behind him, his coach says he has now re-established himself as a key member of the side.

Cullen said: "I thought Sean O'Brien was really exceptional today. It's not just his performance, it's how he leads the group.

"In the week, the way he talks. How he understands the threats the opposition pose, both sides of the ball. In terms of dominating that contact area, he's one of the best players to have ever played the game, certainly Irish guys."
