England wing facing fitness race
Exeter winger Jack Nowell faces a race against time to be ready for the World Cup and might not feature in any warm-up matches.
The 26-year-old would likely be a key figure in Eddie Jones' plans when the showpiece event in Japan gets under way in September.
However, doubts remain over whether he will be fit to play any part in the tournament as he continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained in June.
Nowell has been on a rehabilitation programme over the past few weeks but England assistant coach Neal Hatley admits they still do not have a timeframe for when he could be fit.
Hatley said: "Jack is progressing. He went back to his club and we're hoping he'll be back and ready to be an option.
"The review with him will be ongoing. He's a good healer so we'll see where we get to with him."
