Pivac issues North backing ahead of French clash
Wales head coach Wayne Pivac claims winger George North is raring to go ahead of Saturday's Six Nations clash with France in Cardiff.
The British & Irish Lions star came in for some criticism after he had a quiet game in the 24-14 defeat at the hands of Ireland last time out in Dublin.
There was speculation the Ospreys wing could be dropped for the arrival of Les Bleus to the Principality Stadium but the former Northampton Saint has retained his place in the starting XV.
Pivac he's been impressed with the 27-year-old's efforts in training and says he has no concerns regarding North going into the showdown with the unbeaten French.
"George has been one of the best," Pivac said. "If I have to pick [Wales'] top five trainers, he is right up there.
"He is working really hard, communicating well and is a senior guy in the group. We are encouraging that.
"I expect a big game from George on the weekend. I know he's very keen to get out there and play well."
