Tigers ace loving life in the sun

11th July 2018, 13:53 by Neil Foster

Leicester Tigers flanker Brendon O'Connor has enjoyed a busy summer break and is loving pre-season training in the English sunshine.

The Tigers are now preparing for the new season and training in weather more accustomed to the continent due to the heatwave.

And O'Connor, who has been with the Tigers since 2015, is delighted to be back to work in helpful conditions.

"It is nice to have some good weather," he said. "It has been awesome. I went home to New Zealand and it was torrential rain and flooding for two-and-a-half-three weeks so it is nice to have some sun. I prefer that to the rain and cold."

The 28-year-old got married after the conclusion of last season and admitted that keeping in trim was not always easy.

"We spent our honeymoon in Thailand. It was very hot there about 36 degrees," he added. "I had to get up at seven in the morning to try and train before it got too hot."
