Edouard named player of the month

17th September 2019, 14:16 by Andy Schooler

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard - reportedly on Napoli's radar - has been named the Scottish Premiership player of the month for August.

The French Under-21 striker scored two goals and made two assists in his two games during the opening month of the SPFL season, helping the Bhoys to 7-0 and 5-2 wins over St Johnstone and Motherwell respectively.

He has since gone on to add another goal in the Old Firm derby victory over Rangers and now has six for the season in all competitions for the Scottish champions.

On the same day as Edouard was announced as the award winner, the Daily Mail reported that Napoli have been tracking the 21-year-old.

The newspaper claims the Serie A outfit are prepared to make a “substantial offer”. Celtic are believed to value the player at around £30million. Lyon have also been linked with a move for Edouard in recent times.

Edouard initially joined Celtic on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. He signed permanently 12 months later for a fee of just over £9million.
