Marchisio rumours continue to circulate
Reports linking Rangers with a move for Italy international Claudio Marchisio are refusing to go away.
Marchisio is a free agent after his contract with Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg was cancelled by mutual consent in July and speculation linking him with a move to Rangers initially began to circulate last week.
It had been suggested the 33-year-old had rejected an approach from the Gers but that does not appear to be the case and he could still be interested in linking up with the Glasgow giants due to his admiration for boss Steven Gerrard.
The same Italian sources that initially broke the news of Rangers’ desire to sign Filip Helander are claiming that a move to Ibrox is still a distinct possibility for Marchisio.
However, other clubs are believed to be showing an interest, including Monaco and Porto – the latter of which are set to be Europa League opponents for the Gers.
Marchisio would be an eye-catching signing for Rangers as the midfielder enjoyed an illustrious 13-year career with Juventus before leaving for Zenit in 2018, while he has also made over 50 international appearances for Italy.
