Maxwell loving life at Ibrox
Rangers academy left-back James Maxwell says he is loving life at the club after being given a chance this summer.
The former Falkirk youngster paid the price for his old club’s fall down the Scottish leagues as he was released despite showing plenty of promise.
Rangers took a chance on him after Falkirk folded their successful youth system in December 2017 and he has since impressed at the Hummel Training Centre.
Gers coach Steven Gerrard has allowed him and a few of the club’s young prospects to train with the first team, and Maxwell believes he could soon be lining up alongside them.
He told the Evening Times: “Training with the first team gives you a real motivation, it refreshes you, and you see how much work you need to put in to get to their level.
“It is hard to get round and be with the first team, and you have to earn it.
“Once you are there, you need to prove yourself. You need to prove yourself every day in here.
“It is great to be round there, but once you have been once you want to do it as often as you can.”
