Juve linked with Leverkusen starlet
Bayer Leverkusen may have a fight to keep hold of midfielder Kai Havertz next summer, with the news that Juventus have one eye on the youngster.
Having come up through Leverkusen’s youth teams, the talented schemer made his first-team debut at the age of just 17 and has now made 90 Bundesliga appearances for Die Werkself, scoring 25 times.
The 20-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season in 2018-2019, scoring 17 top-flight goals from 34 outings to help the BayArena outfit finish fourth in the standings.
The youngster has also been capped four times by Germany after making his debut in September 2018, but is still searching for his first goal for his country.
That is sure to come sooner rather than later and it seems as though his exploits at club level have not gone unnoticed, with several big clubs thought to be keen.
Champions League winners Liverpool have been credited with an interest but Havertz is under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2022.
It remains to be seen if he pens a new deal with the club but his head is bound to be turned by the stature of the clubs said to be scouting him.
Juve are the latest, according to Calciomercato, but one sticking point might be the player’s valuation.
Leverkusen are said to value the attacking midfielder at around £90m – an astronomical amount for someone so young but bot uncommon in the current market.
With two goals already to his name this term, Havertz has started well and all at the club will be hoping he maintains his form to make sure they get the best possible deal if he does leave for pastures new next summer.
